I Can't Believe It's Donuts!

I Can't Believe It's Donuts!

for 16 donuts & holes:
2 cans Pillsbury Grand refrigerator biscuits
2 cups oil, like canola
2 cups powdered sugar

Last Saturday we headed off to the pumpkin patch!   The night before, I realized there was only one thing missing... the donuts!  The orchard we use to go to in Illinois always sold the yummiest homemade powdered sugar donuts, which of course I craved all year long.  Well, my niece Caitlin told me about donuts that are made from..... Pillsbury Grands!  I have to admit, I wondered if they would really be good.  Well, they were more than good, they were delicious!  So, we packed them up &  carried them to the orchard.  It was the perfect snack & I was a happy mama!

Believe it or not, they are so easy & pretty quick to make. Step 1: Unroll the biscuits & press out the center hole. (I just used the lid to the Wesson Oil bottle & it worked perfect)  Step 2:  Fill your pan with 1/2 inch of oil & put it on medium heat.  After it's hot, place in the donuts.  Be careful not to crowd them or allow your oil to get to hot. ( You don't want them to get too done on the outside, but not be done enough on the inside. )  Step 3: Flip them over & cook on the other side until golden brown.   I recommend that you cook one donut by itself so you get a feel for how done they need to be.  I have to admit, I usually like things to barely get golden brown, but I had to let these get to a good shade of brown before they were done.

Finally Step 4: remove with tongs & place into your favorite topping.  I choose a Ziploc full of powdered sugar to shake them in.  You could do cinnamon sugar or dip the tops in chocolate... the sky in the limit!  My biggest tip, eat them while they are hot!  They truly are amazing & perfect for fall, just like our trip to the pumpkin patch!
