Homemade Hot Chocolate

Homemade Hot Chocolate

For One Cup:
1 tbls cocoa powder
2 tbls sugar (or equivalent in sweetener, like 2 packs Truvia)
1/4 tsp vanilla
2 tbls water
1 cup milk

Nothings says winter like a cup of hot chocolate!  We always seem to grab for the pre-made box at the grocery, but it's so easy to make from scratch.  Best of all, most of us have the ingredients sitting right in our spice cabinet all the time.

Simply put the water, sugar, cocoa powder & vanilla in a small sauce pan.  Stir over medium high heat for 1-2 minutes, until everything is dissolved.  Then add the milk & heat to the temperature you desire.

I enjoy it thick, like the kind you find in Europe, but if it's too strong you can simply add another 1/2 cup of milk.  In Barcelona, it was so thick they served it to us with a spoon! Yum!

That's it!  Now add whipped cream or marshmallows!  Then, I like to sprinkle with cinnamon & sugar on the top!
